Follow along as I prepare to present my one woman gallery show this fall in Chicago

The Spark

An opportunity to have a one-woman show at the Finestra Art Space in Chicago’s historic Fine Arts Building during November 2010 set the wheels of creativity turning for me in early 2010.

As a person whose vocation is to inspire creativity in others, I was met face-to-face with my own art devils and the overwhelming responsibility of looking inward to pull out of myself meaningful, substantive work.

My first inclination was to take the easy route…just do something simple. When creating art, there really is nothing simple, so I decided if I was going to spend the time, then I wanted to delve deeply into my soul to pull out images reflecting one of my innermost sensitivities…loss of home.

I moved to New York City in August of 2009 after my marriage to the love of my life from my youth. My decision to move turned me upside down and caused a great deal of turmoil for my daughter. This move signifies the only major move of my life, having lived in Chicago my entire life. I found I had a great inner reservoir of imagery to explore.
